Ohio’s New School Report Card

Ohio is changing the way it measures and rates the performance of schools and districts. The 2012-2013 school and district report cards will grade schools and districts on a mix of new and previously used items with an A-F letter-grade system.

Previous school and district report cards mostly were based on how well students performed on state achievement tests. Achievement tests will still be a major part of school and district grades, but the new report card will view them in a different way. In addition, the report cards for 2012-2013 and beyond will use new measurements to determine if students are prepared for success beyond high school.

Simulations

  • Simulated grades for Ohio's New Report Card - simulations created to illustrate the proposed Local Report Card being discussed by the State Board of Education. These grades are based on 2011-2012 data, but they do not replace the 2011-2012 ratings and are not projections for 2012-13 report card. (Excel)
  • Comparison of Grade Scales - for each performance measure and the percentage of districts within each grade (based on simulated grades for Ohio's New Report Card) (PDF)

Full implementation of Ohio’s New School Report Card will require the State Board of Education and ODE to create a number of rules and processes. This work has already begun, and additional details will be communicated broadly and included on this page as soon as they are available.
