Standards and Model Curriculum Supporting Materials
The documents and aids below provide almost everything educators need to understand and implement Ohio's New Learning Standards in English language arts. Learn about the global context in which the standards were developed, compare them with Ohio's 2001 English language arts standards, and see how they are sucessfully implemented in the classroom.
The ELA Eye of Integration is a high school example of teaching ELA while supporting environmental literacy through multiple lenses. It also highlights essential Universal Skills that prepare students for careers and college.
Implementation Tools
- Alignment Toolkit Phase 2: Revision of District Curriculum (NEW)
These tools create a framework from the standards and model curriculum for planning units around big ideas/concepts, sequencing units to the school year, intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections, diverse learner considerations, technology integration, assessment practices (formative, summative and performance-based) and resources.
