Center for the Teaching Profession Overview and Mission

Mission

The mission of the Center for the Teaching Profession is to develop a coherent and interrelated set of policies and programs that: supports the education profession throughout the life cycle of teachers and administrators; ensures that each student is served by caring, competent and qualified educators; and results in systemic and system-wide improvements in instructional practices.

The Center for the Teaching Profession is comprised of five interrelated offices: the Office of Educator Licensure, Office of Professional Conduct, Office of Educator Preparation, Office of Educator Quality and Office of Educator Standards.

The offices collaborate to achieve the overall mission of the Center, and to ensure that cutting-edge products and services are delivered in a coordinated, compatible, easy-to-use and customer-oriented fashion. The purposes of the Center, in turn, become the mission of each office, further demonstrating the integration and interconnectedness of the Center’s work.

The Center organizes its work around the following three goal areas to achieve high performance:

  • To continually improve the products and services delivered by the Center
  • To respond efficiently and effectively to customer concerns through technology and data-based decision-making
  • To align the work of the Center to reach the vision and mission set forth by the State Board of Education
