Getting Involved with your Child's School

Parents’ participation in school activities means a great deal to children. To get involved, parents can volunteer their time and talents, participate in school planning activities, join parent organizations, attend student learning activities and serve on school advisory committees.

Federal and state laws give parents the right to participate in school decisions. Parents can participate in writing school policies and improvement plans and in developing statewide tests. Parents also can get involved on a statewide level by applying to be a State Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council member.
