The gifted education team at the Ohio Department of Education periodically sends e-mails with important information and reminders about events pertaining to gifted education. Timely information on gifted policy, the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and other reporting information, professional development opportunities and a frequently asked questions (FAQs) column are provided. Subscribe to Receive ODE Gifted Education Updates by E-mail
Ohio educators can receive monthly updates regarding issues, policies and events related to gifted education in Ohio from ODE. Gifted Education Update is now sent via listserv, a type of mailing list that allows a person to add themselves to or remove themselves from the subscriber list simply by sending an e-mail message to: join-ls_giftedupdate@lsmail.ode.state.oh.us
At the bottom of each Gifted Education Update, recipients will see a message explaining how to unsubscribe from the list if they wish. To ask questions about the listserv, contact taunya.crumbley@ode.state.oh.us.
Suggesting Items for the ODE Gifted Education Update E-mails
To help support staff development efforts, the ODE gifted education team invites school districts, educational service centers and gifted education organizations that are hosting professional development events open to all educators to submit information for possible inclusion in future Gifted Education Updates. Because many Ohio gifted educators receive the monthly e-mail, sharing information about upcoming activities is an excellent way to publicize your event.
Only professional development activities that specifically address topics in gifted education will be considered for inclusion this online newsletter.
To request inclusion, please e-mail a description of the event to gifted@ode.state.oh.us with the subject line “Gifted Professional Development.” This description must be no more than150 words long and include:
- the topic of the event;
- the time, date and location of the event;
- the sponsoring organization (e.g. school district name);
- the intended audience (e.g., science teachers, kindergarten teachers, gifted education coordinators);
- information regarding any registration fees and/or registration deadline;
- contact information for registration and additional information.
Please submit information by the 15th of the month for inclusion in the next ODE Gifted Education Update. Information about a single professional development event will be included in only one ODE Gifted Education Update. ODE gifted education staff reserve the right to select events for inclusion and to edit submitted content.
