PAEMST Awards

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the nation's highest honors for mathematics and science teachers. The program recognizes teachers for their contributions to instruction and learning and their ability to help students make progress in mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.

Nominations are now open. Each year Ohio chooses up to three candidates as finalists for both mathematics and science. This year's awards are for secondary teachers, grades 7-12, if you know great math and science teachers nominate them to join this prestigious network of professionals.

Nomination and Application

Nominate outstanding secondary, grades7-12, mathematics and science teachers now for the 2013 awards. (Nominations for elementary school teachers, grades K-6, will be accepted next year.) To nominate or apply for the PAEMST Awards, visit the PAEMST website for complete details about the nomination guidelines, application process, and submission. The deadline for 2013 Nominations is April 1, 2013. The nomination form should be completed early enough to ensure that the nominated teacher is given enough time to thoroughly prepare an application and video that reflects exemplary teaching prior to the application deadline. Once nominated, teachers are requested to submit an application.  Teacher applications are due by May 1, 2013.

Why Apply?
In addition to recognizing outstanding teaching in mathematics or science, the program provides teachers with an opportunity to build lasting partnerships with colleagues across the nation.
