From the Superintendent
I have enjoyed a busy first week as State Superintendent. During an inauguration event at Reynoldsburg High School last Monday, I shared what I believe to be the key issues we must address to ensure we are providing a high-quality education for every child in every district. You can watch a video of the event here.
Since then, I have spent time meeting with the dedicated and talented staff here at the Ohio Department of Education to better understand the key issues faced in each area. Later this month, I will hit the road for the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA) regional meetings. I will also be visiting schools to talk with educators, business leaders and the community about the challenges we face. For more information on the BASA meeting locations and dates, click here.
Thank you to all who attended the Connecting the Dots Conference on March 22. There were many great opportunities to learn more about how our reform efforts are interconnected. We have compiled session summaries that can be shared with staff here on our Connecting the Dots page.
For those of you reading this while on spring break, enjoy the time to rest and recharge. For those of you just returning from break, I know you are ready to face the brisk pace the final quarter of the year will bring us. I truly appreciate your dedication to Ohio’s boys and girls.
Dr. Richard A. Ross.
