Parents and families of young children, technical assistance providers, and early childhood care and education providers play important roles in the early care and education of Ohio’s children. Submit grade 3 paper testing resolution for 2019-2020 by May 1

Ohio Senate Bill 216 allows districts the choice to administer paper or online tests only for the third grade state assessments, beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Under this legislation, a district board of education or a governing authority must make the choice to use paper tests, and it must submit a board or governing authority resolution to the Ohio Department of Education.

In-Demand Jobs Week is an Ohio celebration of jobs, industries and skills that are in demand in our state. It gives students and job seekers a great chance to learn more about rewarding local careers that employers are recruiting for right now. Ohio urges all its communities to partner with local industries and community organizations to plan events and activities during that week that will trigger excitement among students and job seekers.

Emergency medical waiver application submission due May 24

Although Ohio expects all students to take part in state tests, there may be rare medical emergencies in which students cannot take one or more assessments during the testing window dates, including the makeup dates. In such cases, districts must submit applications for medical emergency waivers. Superintendents, superintendent designees, principals, test coordinators and Education Management Information System (EMIS) coordinators can submit applications through the online system between May 13-24.
