Submit grade 3 paper testing resolution for 2019-2020 by May 1
Ohio Senate Bill 216 allows districts the choice to administer paper or online tests only for the third grade state assessments, beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Under this legislation, a district board of education or a governing authority must make the choice to use paper tests, and it must submit a board or governing authority resolution to the Ohio Department of Education.
The Department sent a secure, unique link on April 10 to district superintendents and district test coordinators from the Ohio K12 Help Desk. These personnel can use the link to submit the approved resolution for third-graders to take the assessment in paper format for English language arts, mathematics or both. If your school board or governing body has decided to administer paper tests, it must upload a PDF version of the resolution, via this secure link, by May 1.
Districts and community schools do not need to respond to this survey if they meet one of these criteria:
- They only give online tests to third-graders. (NOTE: If a district or school continues to administer the tests online, paper accommodations still are available as accessibility features. See descriptions of these in Ohio's Accessibility Manual. A board or governing authority resolution regarding accommodations is not required);
- Your district or school does not test third-graders.
