Ohio educators encouraged to take the Great #OhEdChat Twitter Challenge
Twitter is one of the fastest growing forms of colleague networking for Ohio educators. More than 12,500 followers get the latest education news via @OHEducation. Also, a peer-led weekly Twitter chat, #OhEdChat, which started at the beginning of the year, gathers more participants each week to discuss the hottest voted-on topics. Now, some of the more active chat hosts have launched the Great #OhEdChat Twitter Challenge to encourage more Ohio educators to join and actively use Twitter for ongoing professional development and participate in the weekly chat at 9 p.m. on Mondays at #OhEdChat.
The contest will run the whole month of May. For the challenge, there are two categories of participants: #13Hatchlings – educators who joined Twitter on or after January 1, 2013, and Twitter veterans, or #Twitterans – educators who joined Twitter before January 1, 2013.
Both hatchlings and Twitterans can earn chat points by making at least one topic Tweet using the hashtag #OhEdChat in any of the Monday night chats in May. The points will be awarded based on the chat archive uploaded to www.OhEdChat.wordpress.com.
Hatchlings who send a report of their numbers along with a screenshot of their Twitter vitals to 13Hatchlings@medinabees.org can earn extra points for follows, followers and tweets. All data must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. June 7 for inclusion in scoring. Screenshots must show the number of followers, following and tweets. The date a hatchling joined Twitter will be verified using TweetBot.
The winner will be presented with a pie, Tweety Bird doll and certificate at the #OhEdChat TweetUp June 29 at COSI in Columbus. Visit http://bit.ly/ohedchattc to register.
