2019 Career Connections Conference registration now open

Plan to attend this year’s Career Connections Conference on Monday, July 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Hilton Columbus – Easton. The event offers educators an opportunity to network, collaborate, and gather to share ideas about the Career Connections work happening throughout the state. Presentations will focus on career advising using OhioMeansJobs or other career information systems, leveraging business advisory councils, using student success plans and developing career pathways. Additional details and a registration form are available on the Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education website.
Career Connections started in 2012 as a joint initiative of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, Ohio Department of Higher Education (formerly Ohio Board of Regents), OhioMeansJobs and Ohio Department of Education. The team started by creating a framework schools can use to help students develop a vision and realistic plan for their futures. It included embedding career exploration strategies in Ohio’s learning standards for English language arts, math, science and social studies and aligning many different college and career readiness efforts to support students as they learn to become productive, engaged citizens.
Through strong career advising practices, Ohio’s Career Connections program aligns with the plan for supporting the whole child found in Each Child, Our Future, Ohio’s five-year strategic plan for education. The Department strongly encourages educators to register for the conference to learn about innovative ideas and resources for kicking off the 2019-2020 school year.
