Training scheduled for April 18: Charter Schools Program Round 3 request for applications

The Charter Schools Program subgrant competition this year will have two potential funding streams. Those who may apply include newly operating community schools in the 2019-2020 school year or schools opened for the first time in 2018-2019 with preliminary agreements or executed contracts with eligible sponsors. And, for the first time, the Department can award Expansion grants to schools that meet the high-quality definition and have eligible sponsors.
The Department encourages schools to visit the CSP webpage to learn more about these two subgrant funding opportunities for the 2019-2020 school year, specifically the eligibility criteria and — coming soon — the Request for Applications.
The Department has scheduled an in-person training on April 18 to help potential applicants learn more about each grant. It encourages eligible schools to attend the session appropriate for them:

  • Session one, from 9 a.m. to noon, is open to new applicants, also known as implementation grants; and
  • Session two, from 1-4 p.m., is open to expansion applicants only.
To register for the event, please log in to SAFE and click on the STARS link; keyword OCS. Select the appropriate training session based on the school’s eligibility. The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 17. For more information, visit the CSP webpage.
