Resources explain changes to Ohio Teacher Evaluation System for 2014-2015

New graphic charts, a set of answers to frequently asked questions and other updated content on the department’s website now explain legislative changes to the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System for the 2014-2015 school year.

The changes allow districts to choose a less frequent evaluation cycle for teachers receiving skilled and accomplished ratings, while still providing them with feedback on their work.

The second change permits districts a choice between the original teacher evaluation structure that Ohio districts put into place last school year and a new alternative teacher evaluation structure. The original framework is based on a teacher performance rating and a student growth rating, each at 50 percent. The alternative framework includes student growth and teacher performance at 42.5 percent each, as well as an additional measure as 15 percent of the evaluation. See a fact sheet and the graphic charts explaining the details of both frameworks here and the answers to Frequently Asked Questions here.
