Annual State Severe Weather Awareness poster contest winners announced
This year’s State Severe Weather Awareness poster contest recognized the work of 43 Ohio students. The Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness chose Alice Yoshida, a sixth grade student in Warren County during the 2013-2014 school year, as the overall state winner. Alice’s poster on lightning safety features a roaring lion and the title, “When Thunder Roars Go Indoors.” View the 2014 overall and state winning posters and regional winning posters.
Since its inception in 1978, students have designed informative posters on severe weather safety and preparedness. The efforts of these students have helped the committee meet its overall goal – to educate Ohioans about the actions they can take to protect themselves and others before, during and after severe weather occurs.
