Data appeal window open for retention and summer third grade reading
Through Thursday, Aug. 31, superintendents and EMIS coordinators of traditional districts, community schools, joint vocational school districts and STEM districts should be finalizing and reporting retention data in EMIS and checking summer third grade reading test data on their test vendor files. Like last year, the Department will use the assessment vendor file instead of requiring districts to report the 2017-2018 summer third grade reading assessment data via EMIS.
From Friday, Sept. 1, through Wednesday, Sept. 6, superintendents and EMIS coordinators should review relevant reports in the Secure Data Center, which will include both the retention data reported in EMIS and the test vendor files. If results are incorrect due to inaccurately reported and/or assessment vendor data, the superintendent should submit an appeal by the Sept. 6 deadline as described here, using the “Data Appeal for Retention” and/or “Data Appeal for Summer Third Grade Reading” forms within the Forms application in SAFE.
The Department will be recollecting updated retention and summer third grade reading data from districts with approved appeals through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7. The Department encourages districts to submit data appeals before the Sept. 6 deadline. Districts that submit appeals early and have them approved will have more time to resubmit corrected data.
The superintendent, EMIS coordinator and superintendent designee can access and complete the data appeal form. The Department does not consider the form to be officially submitted, however, until the superintendent or designee approves it in SAFE.
