Final reminder: One percent alternate assessment justification portal closes today
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each district or community school to submit a justification to its state education department when it anticipates testing more than 1 percent of students with the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities. The deadline for submitting this justification is today, Dec. 10 at 11:45 p.m. If your district expects to test more than 1 percent of its students using the alternate assessment, you must submit the online justification form via the link emailed to your district’s superintendent. To help in the process, download this planning worksheet for the justification form. This template is only a reference tool to help districts prepare the justification. Again, a district must submit its justification online using the link sent to the superintendent.
The Ohio Department of Education will review the justification each district or community school submits and make it available via the Department’s website.
