Nominations open for assessment committees related to Ohio’s State Tests
The Ohio Department of Education now is accepting applications for participants to serve on three types of assessment committees tied to Ohio’s State Tests in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
The Department encourages Ohio’s educators and content specialists to help Ohio create valid, reliable assessments by serving on these groups:
- Content Advisory Committee – Reviews and evaluates test questions and related test materials to ensure each question is a valid, appropriate measure of Ohio’s Learning Standards for that subject area and grade level.
- Rubric Validation Committee – Reviews student responses from machine-scored items administered during the online embedded field test. The review ensures the machine is scoring the items accurately. The committee can make changes to the scoring rubric for an item for clarity, accuracy and reliability.
- Fairness and Sensitivity Committee – Reviews and evaluates test questions and related test materials to ensure questions are fair and unbiased for all groups of students. This committee makes sure test questions do not disadvantage groups of students from different races, ethnicities, genders or disabilities.
