The call for presenters for the virtual 2021 Ohio Teacher Leadership Summit has been extended through Jan. 25, 2021. Teachers and other school leaders engaged in innovative teacher leadership practices at the school and district levels should apply to share their successes, challenges and lessons learned with others in the state during the summit.

On Dec. 14, 2020, all Ohio school districts received an email from the Assistive Technology and Accessible Educational Materials (AT&AEM) Center at OCALI containing access to the 2021 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students packet. The Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children requests that districts register every student attending school in the district who is legally blind, including all eligible preschool, homebound, home-schooled or adult students.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each district or community school to complete and submit a justification when it anticipates testing more than 1.0% of students with the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities. Due to COVID-19, the United States Department of Education waived the requirement that districts submit justifications for the 2020-2021 school year. However, it did not waive the requirement that districts provide assurances.
