Applications for Chinese Guest Teacher Program due Jan. 12
The Chinese Guest Teacher Program, jointly administered by the College Board and the Ohio Department of Education in partnership with the National Council of State Supervisors for Languages, is designed to help U.S. schools develop Chinese language and culture study programs and to promote international exchange between the United States and China.
This program brings experienced language teachers from mainland China to Ohio schools or districts for periods of one to three years. While helping students learn Chinese language, Chinese guest teachers can serve as cultural resources in other subject areas and help develop curriculum, expand language programs and create partnerships. Because a portion of each guest teacher’s salary is subsidized, participating schools can build or expand Chinese programs efficiently and affordably.
An informational webinar is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. Click here to learn more about the program, register for the webinar or apply for a Chinese guest teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Districts must submit applications to the College Board by Jan. 12 for priority consideration. The College Board will consider later applications on a case-by-case basis. Direct general questions about Chinese language learning or program design to Ryan Wertz or Paula Sondej.
