Department to transfer construction curriculum sponsorship to Associated Building Contractors
The Ohio Department of Education will no longer sponsor the NCCER construction curriculum. The transfer will take place with groups of schools rather than all schools at once and will be finished by June 2018. Look for details in the coming weeks on the Department’s website and in EdConnection.
The Department is divesting itself of the sponsorship to avoid potential conflicts of interest, because NCCER now is a recognized industry credential on the state’s approved list of credentials.
Associated Building Contractors was the original NCCER curriculum sponsor some years ago. The Department will work with Associated Building Contractors on the sponsorship transfer to ensure a smooth transition for schools. The Department will continue through the school year to answer schools’ questions about the curriculum and entering training modules in the registry system.
