Ohio's 2019 special education determination

Every year, the federal government gives each state a rating on its implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This is called the state’s “determination.” The U.S. Department of Education uses both procedural compliance and student results data, giving each equal weight, to evaluate each state’s performance.

Data review window open for 2019 student and assessment data

Beginning Thursday, July 18 through Friday, Sept. 6, superintendents must complete a required review of their 2019 student and assessment data reported in EMIS, Ohio’s Education Management Information System. Superintendents must signify whether these data are accurate as they complete and submit the 2019 Data Review for the Report Card Part 1 form.

Submit your district selection of ACT or SAT between Aug. 14 and Sept. 13

Schools will administer state-sponsored college and career readiness tests in spring 2020. Juniors will take whichever college and career readiness test their districts choose. The Department has updated its webpages for the state-funded ACT and SAT tests.

Data appeal for 2019 student and assessment data open through July 26

Beginning Thursday, July 18 through Friday, July 26, superintendents can appeal 2019 student and assessment data submitted to EMIS, including assessment data for grades 3-8 and end-of-course tests. These data will affect many measures on the 2018 Ohio Report Cards and affect the amount of a district’s state funding. This is the only opportunity to appeal this data.
