Restraint and seclusion data collection concludes July 31
Restraint and seclusion data collection for the current 2019-2020 school year will begin on June 1, 2020. Traditionally, this data was collected in late fall for the previous school year.
To improve accuracy of the data, districts now will report the data for the current school year in late spring. Superintendents will receive an email on June 1 that contains a direct link to the district’s data collection survey landing page. The district’s survey landing page contains a PowerPoint that includes all the instructions to complete the data collection survey and worksheet templates that can be used to help identify what data should be collected and reported. Superintendents will have until July 31, 2020, to complete this report.
The Ohio Department of Education is making the reporting tool available to superintendents now to give them ample time to complete the report prior to the July 31 deadline. Recognizing the difficulties associated with COVID-19 and the ordered school-building closure, if districts find they need more time to complete the report, they should contact PBIS_Restraint_Seclusion_Questions@education.ohio.gov.
