From the Superintendent

I am pleased with the efforts of the legislature in its Mid-Biennium Review to address many educational policy concerns and to continue placing a high priority on the education of the girls and boys of Ohio. We still have a lot of work to do to make sure every Ohio student receives a high quality education, but the passage of this legislation ensures that we are directed toward that goal.

Together, these changes provide what many educators around Ohio have been seeking – more options to meet the unique needs of students and additional time to implement all the changes we are making to improve student learning.

The information I am sharing with you today is just a start – we’ll review the bill in detail and provide more complete guidance in the coming weeks. In addition to the summary below, every MBR item is listed in this document.

For quicker reading you may also want to look at this summary of key points in the legislation and a one-page graphic overview of Ohio’s new graduation requirements that you can also share with parents.

Thank you for all you do for the boys and girls of Ohio.
