Aug. 31 is new deadline to offer healthy food to all students
Ohio schools in high-poverty communities have more time and less paperwork to offer healthy, free breakfasts and lunches to all students. The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture is extending the deadline to participate in the federal Food and Nutrition Service program from June 30 to Aug. 31, 2014. A district can apply through the Community Eligibility Provision, a tool that identifies initial eligibility and low-income percentage. Districts that wish to participate do not need individual income applications from families. Here is more information.
