Innovation Education Pilot Program Waiver available for 2014-2015 school year

Districts and schools that are piloting a new program in the 2014-2015 school year can take advantage of the Innovative Education Pilot Program to waive state rules in certain areas during the time period of the pilot. More information about this pilot program is here. Please carefully review instructions since there are changes to this year’s form and process.

In the past, schools have requested a waiver for exemption from the state minimum school days. Only districts that have a bargaining unit agreement in place that prevents them from switching their schedule from days to hours in the 2014-2015 school year may submit a waiver from minimum days.

Districts able to implement the new hours schedule will no longer need waiver days for professional development because they will control and be responsible for meeting established time requirements. Days to Hours Frequently Asked Questions are available here.
