BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools announces executive change
BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools, which trains aspiring building leaders to transform low-performing, high-poverty schools, announced that Chief Operations Officer Idin Pirasteh will serve as the program’s interim president and CEO when its current CEO, Thomas Maridada, leaves BRIGHT in August. Pirasteh also had earlier served as BRIGHT’s director of operations.
The departing Maridada will attend Harvard Divinity School, where he has been awarded the Dean’s Fellowship, one of the university’s highest student honors. Maridada will remain a senior advisor for BRIGHT.
BRIGHT New Leaders for Ohio Schools is a public-private partnership authorized by the Ohio General Assembly in 2013. It is one of several nonprofit organizations incubated by the Ohio Business Roundtable to help improve the academic performance of Ohio’s K-12 students. Since 2015, the Ohio Department of Education has licensed 60 BRIGHT trainees to lead challenged schools.
