Nomination deadline extended for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
The National Science Foundation has extended the nomination deadline for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program to April 1, 2019. The teacher application deadline remains May 1. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government for the teaching of grades 7-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics and computer science.
Principals, teachers, parents, students or members of the community can nominate exceptional teachers from those fields who are teaching grades 7-12 in the 2018-2019 school year. Teachers also may apply directly at paemst.org. More information about these awards is available on the Department’s website.
Awardees receive a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation, which administers PAEMST.
