Unique opportunity for Appalachian students and teachers
The Appalachian Regional Commission encourages all middle and high school students interested in math, science and technology to apply for the commission’s 2018 Oak Ridge National Laboratory Summer Math-Science-Technology Institute and Summer Science Academy. The free institute will take place from July 7-20 for high school students and teachers and July 15-20 for middle school students. Both sessions take place at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
The academy will cover all expenses, including meals, lodging, transportation to and from home, and local transportation for all participants. To be eligible, grades 9-12 teachers must plan to teach in the math, science and technology disciplines for the 2018-2019 school year. They will receive stipends for attending.
Applications are available here. Submit applications to the Governor’s Office of Appalachia by March 16. For additional information, call the Governor’s Office of Appalachia at (614) 644-6611.
