Application window open for participation in National Center for Rural Education Research Networks

3/25/2019

In February 2019, the Ohio Department of Education and the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University announced an award of $10 million from the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences. The grant creates the National Center for Rural Education Research Networks, a network of up to 30 rural school districts in Ohio and up to 30 rural districts in New York that will devise and test solutions to the challenges of chronic absenteeism, college readiness and college enrollment in rural education. Ohio was selected for this grant opportunity, in part, because rural districts in Ohio serve a large percent of the state’s school-age children compared to the national average.

Rural districts that want to participate in the network can apply through National Center for Rural Education Research Networks’ website. Applications are due April 30. Interested districts also may learn more about the National Center for Rural Education Research Networks by attending one of six regional informational meetings or webinars.
