ED STEPS taking shape; sign up for district pilot project by Dec. 6

Based on four years of feedback from schools and districts, the Ohio Department of Education is designing a process of increased support and collaboration to connect districts with federal funding suited to their students’ unique academic needs. The Education Department System of Tiered E-Plans and Supports (ED STEPS) will increase coordination and streamline the timelines and processes for assessing needs, planning and applying for funds.

The Challenged School District list now is available on the Department’s website. When a school district is designated as a “Challenged School District,” startup community schools may open within its boundaries.

Sale or lease of unused school facilities to community or STEM schools

Ohio Law now requires every school district board of education to offer unused school facilities it owns for lease or sale to the governing authorities of community schools or STEM schools located in the district’s boundaries.
