Submission deadline for 1 percent alternate assessment justification forms extended

10/16/2017

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each district or community school to submit a justification when it anticipates testing more than 1 percent of students using the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD). The Office for Exceptional Children expects to open the submission forms next week. Please note that the deadline for submitting the justification form has been extended to Dec. 1, 2017.

Every district superintendent will receive a link from Cherwell (an online data submission tool) to a justification form for his or her district. Each district must submit its justification online via the Cherwell survey tool. If your district anticipates testing more than 1 percent of your students with the alternate assessment in 2017-2018, you must complete this justification form by Dec. 1, 2017.
