One percent alternate assessment justification portal opens Oct. 25 through Dec. 1
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each district or community school to submit a justification when it expects to test more than 1 percent of its students using the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD). If your district expects to test more than 1 percent of your students using the alternate assessment, you must submit the online justification, by Dec. 1, 2017, via the link emailed to the district superintendent.
To familiarize staff with the justification form, see a PDF version of the form here. Note that the PDF sample form cannot be filled out. Your district must complete and submit its justification form via the link your district superintendent has received.
The Ohio Department of Education will review each district’s or community school’s justification and post it on the Department’s website per federal regulation.
