Free resources available for Veterans Day observances required by law
Veterans Day honors America’s veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve for the common good, and it provides students with the opportunity to examine the meaning of civic ideals. Ohio law requires that each school devote at least one hour or one standard class period on or around Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to an observance that conveys the meaning and significance of the day. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides a free teachers guide and other materials to assist in lesson and event planning.
