September is National Suicide Prevention Month
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is collaborating with other state and local agencies, organizations and individuals to save lives. Information and resources about Ohio’s Suicide Prevention Plan is available here.
K-12 professionals — school nurses, teachers, counselors, school psychologists and administrators — at public elementary, middle and high schools now must take safety and violence prevention training. Find information about deadlines, who must take the training and what the training must cover here. The training includes four modules that address mental health and substance abuse, anti-harassment, intimidation and bullying, teen relationship abuse, child abuse and human trafficking. Professionals meet the requirement for suicide awareness and prevention training by taking Module 2.
