Statewide contest kicks off National School Lunch Week – deadline Sept. 27

Mark your calendar for National School Lunch Week, Oct. 14-18. This year’s theme, School Lunch: What’s on Your Playlist?, spotlights the wide variety of flavors, dishes and delivery options available in today’s school lunches.
To celebrate National School Lunch Week, the Department’s Office of Integrated Student Supports is sponsoring Lunch Menu Playlist, a statewide contest to generate awareness about the school lunch program.
The contest is open to Ohio schools taking part in the National School Lunch Program. With your district’s or school’s participation, you can help promote the importance of USDA Child Nutrition Programs and their impact on learning.
To take part in the contest:

  • Submit your school’s planned school lunch week menu related to the School Lunch: What’s on Your Playlist? theme; and
  • Make sure each daily menu represents a reimbursable meal and the whole week’s menu meets all National School Lunch Program meal pattern requirements.
The Office of Integrated Student Supports will select entries that most effectively and creatively promote the National School Lunch Week theme.
Submissions cannot be returned. The deadline to submit menus is Sept. 27. The Department may feature the winning submissions on its website, social media and in other Department communications. See more contest details here.
Please email Carmen Stewart with questions about the lunch contest.
