September is Attendance Awareness Month

With the new school year underway across Ohio, it’s more important than ever that our students be in class every day ready to learn. Missing too much school has long-term, negative effects on students, such as lower achievement and graduation rates. A student is chronically absent if he or she misses as few as two days of school a month. September is Attendance Awareness Month across the country and in Ohio.

Register now for the CyberOhio Capture the Flag Challenge!

High school students are invited to break, hack, decrypt or do whatever it takes to capture the flag in this free cybersecurity competition on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Columbus from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office and The Ohio State University teamed up for this event to promote interest in the fields of information security and computer science.

Florence Nightingale Day celebrates women in the field of data science

The American Statistical Association and the Caucus for Women in Statistics are hosting Florence Nightingale Day on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Female students in grades 8-12 are invited to this inaugural event taking place at The Ohio State University in Columbus as part of a similar national celebration to promote the science of data.
