Free safety assessment and intervention trainings available

The Department is offering free, evidence-based school violence prevention trainings to districts in the 2021-2022 school year. The sessions teach multidisciplinary, school-based teams how to identify and respond to threats of violence or at-risk behavior before a tragedy takes place.

Data Insights examines 2020-2021 enrollment, attendance, assessments

The Ohio Department of Education recently released “Data Insights: Evidence of the Pandemic’s Impact on Students in 2020-2021.” The information includes preliminary data on enrollment, chronic absenteeism and the spring 2021 third-grade English language arts test, math and English language arts tests in grades 5-8 and high school end-of-course exams.

Department invites districts and schools to participate in online writing pilot

The Department is planning a new voluntary English language arts writing pilot intended to test future assessment questions, not students. Districts, schools, classrooms and small groups of students can participate to help form future assessments in Ohio.
