Nominate a teacher for the Presidential Awards of Excellence in Mathematics and Science

Public and private school educators, parents or community members may nominate teachers of kindergarten through grade 6 for the Presidential Awards of Excellence in Mathematics and Science. It’s a good idea to start the process soon, even though nominations are due by April 1. Once nominated, each teacher will want time to prepare an application and a videotaped classroom lesson. The application deadline is May 1, 2016.

Science teachers have valued Science Online, available to all schools at no charge through INFOhio, for the colorful diagrams that illustrate complicated science and math concepts. Now, in addition to a new streamlined interface, Science Online includes interactive virtual experiments.

Financial Literacy Survey coming to principals today

High school principals will receive a request from the Ohio Education Research Center today on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education to complete a survey about how the financial literacy graduation requirement is addressed in their high schools. The survey is short, but principals may need input from the counseling staff or teachers assigned to teach financial literacy in their schools to complete the survey. Please watch for the survey to arrive in your email inbox and take a few moments to complete the survey.

Teacher credentialing grant applications now being accepted for College Credit Plus

The Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Ohio Department of Education are requesting grant proposals to support graduate coursework for high school teachers who need additional qualifications to teach college courses under the College Credit Plus program.
