Passing score for GED test recalibrated

The GED Testing Service announces a recalibration to the GED test passing score and the addition of two new performance levels to more fully measure learner’s skills. The passing score for high school equivalency is moving from 150 to 145. The GED program also will include two optional levels above high school equivalency to signify college readiness and for some test-takers, the opportunity to earn college credits. The scoring enhancement is driven by a detailed analysis of educational outcomes of GED program graduates compared to high school graduates over the past 18 months.

The Ohio Department of Education has begun preparing for implementation of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in the 2017-2018 school year. Congress passed the law in December 2015 as a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

Schedule for teacher-level value-added data release announced

Authorized district personnel will be able to view teacher-level value-added data in the electronic Teacher and Principal Evaluation System (eTPES) in early April. At that time, they will be able to categorize teachers and enter other student growth measure ratings into the system. We understand this later schedule, which is due to the late release of 2014-2015 state test data, causes a delay for everyone. Next year, these data will be available earlier on a schedule similar to previous years.
