Community Connectors grant application seminars scheduled in March

The Ohio Department of Education will host Community Connectors grant application seminars on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, March 22 from 1-3 p.m. at Cuyahoga Community College, Jerry Sue Thornton Center, 2500 East 22nd Street, Cleveland;
  • Monday, March 28 from 1-3 p.m. at Scarlet Oaks, Community Room, 300 Scarlet Oaks Drive, Cincinnati; and
  • Wednesday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at Vineyard Columbus, 6000 Cooper Road, Westerville.

April Deadlines for College Credit Plus

College Credit Plus provides Ohio students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. All students interested in participating in College Credit Plus for the 2016-2017 school year must declare their intent to participate by April 1. Students must declare their intent to participate even if they participated last year.

Report confirms investment in early childhood is important in student success

Since 2012, Ohio has put millions of federal and state dollars into improving its early education system for children ages birth through kindergarten entry who are from economically disadvantaged homes. Findings from research done recently by the Ohio Education Research Center show why financial commitments like these are important.

Guidance available for schools seeking accessible educational materials for students with print disabilities

For some students, printed instructional materials can be a barrier to participation and achievement in the general education curriculum. Accessible educational materials remove that barrier. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, state and local education agencies must ensure that children with disabilities who need accessible education materials in the four specialized formats receive those materials in a timely manner, which is defined in Ohio as the delivery of the accessible materials at the same time as their peers receive their materials.
