Check out Test Talk for Parents

The Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Communications and Outreach is offering a new way to communicate with parents about Ohio’s Learning Standards and Ohio’s State Tests. Test Talk for Parents is a short, biweekly newsletter that can simplify what families need to know in their children’s teaching and testing. Schools and districts can feature a link to the web-based periodical on their websites or distribute hard copies at teacher conferences or school events.

The Ohio Department of Education is hosting a webcast to discuss the 2015 Ohio School Report Cards. The webcast will detail the graded measures and components, along with what schools and districts should expect when reviewing their report cards next year.

CCIP will open for fiscal year 2017 improvement plans in early 2016

ESEA requires districts and schools receiving state support for academic improvement to submit an improvement plan for fiscal year 2017. These are districts with a status of Academic Distress Commission or receiving intensive or moderate state support. Also included are schools with a designation as Priority, Focus or Watch.

2016 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students packet coming in the mail

On Dec. 10, the Center for Instructional Supports and Accessible Materials will mail a 2015 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students packet on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children. The center requests the registration of every student attending school in your district who is legally blind.

Avoid failure in submitting your school emergency management plan by updating the Ohio Educational Directory System

Per state law, the school emergency management plan now consists of four documents. Schools must submit their plans electronically through a SAFE account. Schools may no longer submit plans by mail.
