Marva Kay Jones, Ed.D. joined the Ohio Department of Education in August 2018 as senior executive director of the Center for Continuous Improvement. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the Offices of Improvement and Innovation, Academic Distress and Federal Programs. She is well-positioned for this work after serving in four districts in northeast Ohio as a teacher, administrator and superintendent.
Marva earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from The University of Akron, followed by a Master’s Degree in both Educational Administration and Community Counseling. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Youngstown State University, and her dissertation focused on the positive effects of mentoring on principals.
Marva also is passionate about giving back to the community and serves as the chair of the Akron Walk to Defeat ALS.
