Ohio Teacher of the Year to be Announced at Special Surprise Event

Wednesday, Oct. 3, approximately 7 p.m. (Please arrive by 6:45 p.m.)

Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction Michael Sawyers will make the presentation on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education. Also in attendance will be State Board of Education member Kristen McKinley, Hamilton Township Local Schools Superintendent Christopher Lester, Principal Jim Miller and Hamilton Local Schools’ students, staff and community. Ohio Teacher of the Year Carole Morbitzer (Shhh, it’s a surprise).


The Ohio Teacher of the Year will be announced during Hamilton Township High School’s annual “Volley for the Cure” event. (Participants will be wearing pink, so you may want to consider blending in.)

The Ohio Teacher of the Year Program honors promotes and celebrates excellence in teaching and the teaching profession. Ohio’s Teacher of the Year serves as a model for his/her colleagues, inspiration to their communities and leaders in education.


Please respect the October 3, 2012, 7 p.m. embargo on releasing the name of the Teacher of the Year recipient.

There will be an opportunity to interview the recipient and Acting Superintendent Michael Sawyers, as a well as Hamilton Township school officials, following the announcement of the award.
