State Board of Education January 2012 Meeting Agenda

The State Board will be briefed on Monday, Jan. 9 at 1:15 p.m. on the recently awarded $70 million federal Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge Grant.
State Board Business Meeting
During the business meeting on Tuesday, the Board will consider the following personnel actions:
Resolution to accept the voluntary surrender and to enter an order to permanently revoke the high school teaching certificate of Guy C. Cameron – Maumee City Schools (Lucas County);
Resolution to accept the voluntary surrender and to enter an order to permanently revoke the five-year professional adolescence to young adult teaching license of Todd G. Ramsey – Southern Local Schools (Columbiana County);
Resolution to accept the voluntary surrender and to enter an order to permanently revoke the five-year professional education of the handicapped teaching license and five-year professional elementary teaching license of Daniel L. Thomas – Rock Hill Local Schools (Lawrence County);
Resolution to accept the report and recommendation of the hearing officer to Resolution to accept the report and recommendation of the hearing officer to deny the three-year pupil activity supervisor permit application of Mark E. McCoy – Galion City Schools (Crawford County).

The State Board of Education has set education policy and directed the planning and evaluative functions of Ohio’s public schools, as well as appointed and evaluated the superintendent of public instruction since 1956. The vision of the State Board is for all students to graduate well prepared for success. The State Board is made up of 19 members, including 11 elected and eight appointed members. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as ex officio members.
