State Board of Education to Meet Nov. 11 and 12 at Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The State Board of Education will conduct its monthly meeting on Nov. 11 and 12 during the Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference at the Columbus Convention Center, 400 North High St., Columbus.
On Monday, Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Richard A. Ross will provide an Ohio education update, which will be followed by board committee meetings. In the afternoon, the board will host breakout sessions focusing on urban, rural and suburban districts.
On Tuesday, the Board will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. and move directly into their business meeting.

The State Board of Education has set education policy and directed the planning and evaluative functions of Ohio’s public schools, as well as appointed and evaluated the superintendent of public instruction, since 1956. The vision of the State Board is for all students to graduate well prepared for success. The State Board is made up of 19 members, including 11 elected and eight appointed members. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as ex officio members.
