Juravich named finalist for National Teacher of the Year award
In response to the Council of Chief State School Officers’ (CCSSO) announcement that Ohio Teacher of the Year Jonathan Juravich is a finalist for the 2018 National Teacher of the Year award, the following statement may be attributed to Paolo DeMaria, superintendent of public instruction:
“As an art teacher, Jonathan goes out of his way to fill his students’ lives with color and joy, pushing them to learn and see the world in new and exciting ways. ‘Mr. J’ is a wonderful example of what a great teacher is — he cares about students, helps other teachers and goes outside the school walls to help the community. To say we’re proud is an understatement.”
In August, Juravich received the State Board District 6 Teacher of the Year award. He then was named the 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year in September. The video of the September announcement and press release can be accessed by clicking here.
