The Ohio Department of Education today welcomed more than 300 students from several dozen high schools around the state to celebrate their commitments to serve in the U.S. military. High school seniors and juniors who are entering service academies or have committed to serve as active duty, Reserve or National Guard members were invited to take part in the Armed Forces Career Commitment Ceremony at COSI (Center of Science and Industry), 333 West Broad St., in Columbus.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria today appointed Dr. Randall Sampson to the Lorain Academic Distress Commission and has designated him as the commission chairman.
Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria toured three career-technical centers to celebrate how career-tech programs across Ohio prepare students for bright futures. DeMaria met with students and staff at Swiss Hills Career Center in Woodsfield, Belmont-Harrison Career Center in St. Clairsville and the Career and Technology Education Centers (C-TEC) of Licking County in Newark to celebrate Career-Technical Education Month.
The Ohio Department of Education and the Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) at Harvard University announced the award of $10 million from the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
With the help of numerous sponsoring agencies and stakeholders, the Summer Food Service Program works to feed thousands of children in Ohio. This year, the Ohio Department of Education wants to increase participation in summer meal programs and is actively seeking local nonprofit agencies to participate as sponsors or sites by providing free meals to children.
