An Ohio school is among 46 schools, six districts and six postsecondary institutions nationally honored for their exemplary efforts to reduce environmental impact and utility costs, improve health and wellness, and ensure effective environmental education.
Ohio’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Committee recently approved 11 new STEM and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) schools for next school year that will focus on inquiry and a design-thinking approach to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, the arts and humanities.
Ohioans now have three testing options for earning a certificate of high school equivalence. The Ohio Department of Education approved GED, HiSET and TASC as the official testing companies for adult learners to use to earn the certificate of high school equivalence, generally considered to be the equivalent of a high school diploma.
Philanthropy Ohio and the State Board of Education of Ohio encourage educators, funders, parents, students and community members to engage in community conversations to provide input on Ohio’s Draft Strategic Education Plan, which will create a unified system that results in success for each student.
Well-nourished students have well-nourished minds. Starting the school day with a nutritious breakfast is a healthy way to help students focus and concentrate on schoolwork. To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available to them, the Ohio Department of Education is promoting National School Breakfast Week.
