The Ohio Department of Education is now accepting applications for scholarships for students assigned to underperforming public schools, students from lower income families or those with special needs for the 2017-2018 school year. The awarded scholarships help students attend participating private schools or providers.
Well-nourished students have well-nourished minds. Starting the school day with a nutritious breakfast is a healthy way to help students focus and concentrate on schoolwork. To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available to them, the Ohio Department of Education is promoting National School Breakfast Week.
Students intending to participate in the third year of College Credit Plus, the successful program that provides Ohio students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, can begin the notification process for the 2017-2018 school year today (Feb. 15). College Credit Plus debuted at the start of the 2015-2016 school year, with more than 52,000 students participating and getting a jump start on college, saving more than $120 million in college tuition costs.
After a year of engaging with more than 15,000 of Ohio’s educators, parents and community members about their vision for our state’s educational system, the Ohio Department of Education released the full draft plan and technical submission of Ohio’s State Plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
