More than three dozen Ohio schools are being recognized today by the Ohio Department of Education for improving academic achievement among their students, including many from economically disadvantaged homes.
The Straight A Fund Governing Board will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Ohio Department of Education, 25 S. Front St., Columbus, in conference room B-001.
At the meeting, the board will discuss applications and make recommendations on the applicants selected for funding to the Ohio Controlling Board for final approval on Dec. 16
The Ohio School for the Deaf and Ohio State School for the Blind unveiled their facilities on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in ribbon cutting ceremonies.
The Straight A Fund Governing Board will meet on Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, 77 S. High Street, 31st Floor, South B & C rooms.
The latest Nation’s Report Card, 2013 Mathematics and Reading, emphasizes the need for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee that currently is being implemented in Ohio. According to the report card, Ohio’s fourth graders have shown virtually no progress in reading during the past 10 years.
